Research work
In 2014, the Department prepared a report on the results of field tests and monitoring of barriers in the framework of the STCU R-454 project. The report includes recommendations for the protection of groundwater from heavy metals and radionuclides generated during mining operations, as well as assessed risks to the health of people living near man-made areas.
Michael Wireman, a national expert on groundwater protection and a staff member of the US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA), praised the work done. As a result – a project participant from the Department, Art. off, Ph.D. Yatsenko AP A grant from the International Secretariat of the Hydrogeological Society (IAH / IAH) was provided, which, according to the approved program, provides opportunities for professional development, research methods, training, sponsorship in international forums and use of databases and scientific literature of leading US universities.
In 2014, the Department completed the final stage of research on № 2549p “Sol-gel synthesis of nanomaterials based on layered silicates for the removal of toxicants from aquatic environments” under the leadership of the head of the Department Corresponding Member. NAS of Ukraine Kornilovich B.Yu.
